Position Details (Skilled)
- Must: Have a clean driving record
- Primary Purpose: Apply paint, varnish, stain, and enamel to protect and decorate school buildings, fixtures, and equipment. To help maintain the beautification throughout the district year-round.
- Mindset: To be a team player to help outside the painting realm as duties are assigned by the Director or supervisor
- Reports To: Director of Facilities / Maintenance Supervisor
- Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; valid driver’s license; minimum 5 years of verifiable commercial or residential painting experience.
- Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, scrape, sandblast, and pressure wash walls, ceilings, exteriors, sidewalks, and parking lots.
- Develop: vendor relationships for supplies and best pricing for the district
- Drywall & Repair: Hang.Tape, float, patch, and texture drywall or plaster; fill cracks and holes with appropriate compounds. Ability to match existing texture
- Application: Apply finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment; stain and varnish wood; paint signs, stripe parking lots, and remove graffiti. Ability to maintain, preserve, and inspect district property equipment and tools
- Color Matching: Match existing paint colors using tints, formulas, and color chips.
- Maintenance: Erect scaffolding and ladders safely; maintain, clean, and store tools and equipment properly.
Skills and Physical Demands
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of painting materials, mixing, color matching, and safe chemical disposal.
- Physical Strength: Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, work on elevated scaffolding or lifts, and lift up to 50–60 pounds.
- Work Environment: Comfortable working indoors and outdoors around chemical fumes, dust, and standard school maintenance schedules. Ability to work without supervision, manage time and projects in a timely manner.
